The King of Melody Hemant Kumar, as he was known in the Hindi film industry, was a versatile singer who could effortlessly transition between various genres. His deep, resonant voice and impeccable timing made him a favorite among music lovers. Lata Mangeshkar, the Nightingale of India, once said, "Whenever I listen to Hemantda's songs, I feel like a saint chanting hymns in a temple." A Mentor and Friend Manna Dey, another legendary singer, expressed his admiration for Mukhopadhyay saying, "Hemant Babu is a great man. With such a voice, he could have sung all the songs himself. Why would he need us? We have to work hard to sing, but he could just speak and it would turn into a song."
